There’s nothing like projecting an optimist mindset
every time we plot our future and write down our dreams. Positive thinking is a
key to achieving your dream goals, but in reality, it’s pretty much impossible
to do it 24/7. You can’t be perky-and-perfect Little Miss Sunshine all the
time. And, that’s okay. It’s a given that you’re going to have a bad hair days,
feel crappy about work, go through relationship snafus, lose faith in the
people around you, want to hibernate for a week, whatever. What matter is how
you deal with it and face it head-on.
The next time a negative thought pops into your head,
pause to take a second and close your eyes. Then tilt back your face so that it
points at the ceiling (with your eyes still shut), and attempt to keep the
thought in your mind. Try doing it now. It’s surprisingly hard, right? It will
take a few seconds for our head to adjust to the new position, and whatever you
were fretting about will suddenly go out of focus. Instead of trying to
recapture your train of though, let it go. Pretty soon, things will start to,
well, look up.
